One View: God Forsook Jesus

• Jesus literally took on all the sins of the world
  • 2 Corinthians 5.21

Serious Problems With This View

• Rejects divinity of Jesus during His earthly ministry
• Presents Jesus as a blemished sacrifice
• Implies Jesus was ignorant of the eternal plan
• Teaches imputed sin and guilt
• Suggests Gods promises are empty

What About 2 Corinthians 5.21

• Sin is an act, so in what sense was Jesus "made sin?"
  • Guilt of sin?
  • Sin offering?
• Passages like Galations 3.10-14 and Isaiah 53.10 explain that Jesus was our atonement,or sin offering

• Key to understanding Jesus' statement
• Two parts to the psalm
  • Prayer for deliverance (1-21)
  • Praise for deliverance (22-31)
• Jesus quoted the first verse of the psalm
• By quoting the first verse, He was applying the psalm's message to His situation
